    Geelong 4wd club

Any members of the Geelong 4wd club here, I have been thinking about joining what is the LR representation like.

I have heard a rumour that several tracks that have been closed for a long time will be reopened for the Otway Antics this year ????

    Hi Lucas,
I've been looking at joining either the Geelong 4X4 Club or the Bellarine 4X4 Club. Unfortunately I work nightshift and would find it difficult to get to the meetings. I know some other Landy owners in the area who might be interested in starting a Land Rover Club in Geelong.

    Yes clubs and politics

if you have mates and dont need advice or discounts steer clear of clubs and go 4wdriving with your mates

Plenty of people on here that you can tag along with so you dont nessesarily need a club and theres more good info on here than in any club.

I went along to trials day with LROCV, one of my work mates is a member. It did not seem me.

I would be more than happy to head out with fellow LR owners, it would be good to tea something up before the tracks close.

    Hi Lucas,
i'm a member of the Geelong 4WD Club. It suits what I want to do. I was also a member of the LROCV.
The Geelong club has a strong Nissan Toyota base with a few other makes. I think there are 6 or so Rover owners (out of a membership of about 80). I get s#&^t heaped on me coz I drive a disco but I've shown I can mix it with the best of them. There is a growing bunch of suzuki owners. Guys getting little light Suzi's to throw around rather than there bigger heavier rigs.
I don't enjoy extreme stuff - but there are guys there who are really good drivers. So you can join in with them. They are also not precious about who goes along with them.
There are also those that want to do easier stuff. Camping. Beachport. Snow trips etc.
I now live in Melbourne and still drive to Geelong for the meetings and trips. It took me about 18 months to 'feel at home' in the club but that was helped by goingout on trips.

I went on a number of LROCV Trials days - good fun and challenging.

    Each Club is different.

I have been to a few others and they were either VERY small and cliquey, and others that saw 4wd trips as 'drink-fests'.

PM if you want some more info.

I am pretty new to forums (12 months) and it may well prove to be another source of friends and good trips.
