    Adelaide LR dealer losing franchise?

I heard (3rd hand) that the Adelaide dealer Black Forest LR (and the related dealer out at Walkerville whose name I can't remember) is to have their franchise taken away from them. Anyone from here know any more about that? Did they do something bad?

They must have. They are/were a dealer aren't they?

My Discovery came from Prestige Walkerville & a most un-co-operative lot you you wouldn't wish to meet. Black Forest Parts were not much chop either.

If this is true, I wonder whether their replacement will be any better or in the same mould?

That's the other lot - Prestige Walkerville.

I went right off Black Forest when my Disco had its first service there and I got a bill for $800 for a $400 service. Having said that, they were excellent when I had some warranty work done on my RR a month or two ago.

I believe that the Audi/Jaguar/Aston Martin/Rolls Royce people are picking it up (the ones on Unley Rd).

Easo, try the "new" dealer in Albury-Wodonga - I rung them when I was purchasing my Defender...........their reply "Land Rover don't make the Defender anymore - they only have the Discovery and Range Rover".

Result? Purchased the vehicle in Melbourne - they at least knew what a 'Fender was.

Sorry guys - I don't mean to hijack your thread.

Don't get me started on the old dealer in Wodonga

As for the Adelaide one it may just be LRA is still cutting back on dealerships.

After all how many people outside the CBD of any capital city want to buy Land Rover's

... well I think that's how their marketing strategy works

Solitaire had the RaRo/LR franchise some years ago.

I wonder how many nationwide dealers as listed in the back of my Owner's Handbook, are still Authorised Dealers? I'd hazard a guess, not many.

    From what I understand,,,

Solitaire are going to handle LR as the sole dealer in Adelaide. A new shop/dealer is being built at Mile end, and will be the only outlet....

    or so the story go's.

I don’t know why LRA are so hell bent on reducing the number of dealers, or maybe it’s the parent company PAG, which wouldn’t surprise me.

PAG has a principal that the customer not only comes last but where possible, doesn’t exist at all. Don’t know how they think they are going to sell vehicles when the consider customers to be nothing more than a necessary evil.

VW did the same thing about a decade or so ago and they are still paying for it.

    Cheers.
