I wonder if the stories are true?
Those new 70 series Toyota V8s gave me evil shameful thoughts, almost yearnings. Mind you, I might never have had them if the Defenders were coming with the TDv6. Though let's be honest. Who among is totally deaf to the siren call of a diesel V8?

Must admit I had shameful thoughts too, and I don't mind the look of them, but leaf springs and part time 4wd? That's 60s technology.
And the price.....mid $60ks for one with reasonable options (like aircon).![]()
What is wrong with part time 4wd?
Is it just the getting out and locking the hubs if you hadn't thought to lock them that morning?
My biggest disappointment is the 4 door wagon doesn't have the dual fuel tank.
i put up a thread about the new toyo v8 a while back seeing as there old 4.2 turbo diesel punched out exactly same power and torque figures seeing as landrover are getting 200kw out of there 3.6 v8.

The 70 series Toymota is as old as the hills, was a Prado back in the 80s, not seen here (except for grey imports), even Toyo say so in their ads.
So it has a slug of a new V8 in an ancient body, big deal.
Even the 'fender is far newer....
