From their website, it looks like they only have 3 WA locations.

If they have them when I'm next in, I'll grab one for you...will probably be Thursday now though.

Well to me they look like the old T-max units...we sold a few in the early days with no problems...Dave still runs 2 on his 90 2 years now and they are still going strong...he uses the cord tho not the remote for some reason????

Trouble is, I have no clue who makes them, so wondered if anyone knew if they were any good or not? Not one of those items you want to find out is crap just when you really need it....

Not going to go with this....based on a combination of my winch mounting thread and fear of the unknown, I'm going to go with the Terrain Tamer unit.

For an extra hundred or two, I get something I've seen used in anger, with a 2 year warranty, and the guy in their WA office is going to take a look at the Defender and check our the bar, etc. Plus I think a bit of negotiation with some other stuff I'm going to buy may bring the price down a bit too....

    Cheap China

Be Careful with the cheap winch. I imported four (two 9500 & two 12000lbs)of these cheaper winch's from China at a total cost including door to door freight and custom clearance at $220.00 each. These are the same ones that you will find on Ebay and at Repco for about $800.00. I sold one in the trading post to test the water for trading, put one on my car and gave two to a mate. After my one failed he gave me one back and it worked fine for three pulls then started to smell burnt. We pulled it apart and the feild isolators were burnt also the gear was showing signs of wear. There was also water inside both the electric and mechanic sides.
I decided not to buy any more.

In my experience I would rather pay a little more for a "WARN MAGNUM" (about $1100 at AR then be stuck when you need it most.

    Cheers.

That was my main fear, but having seen the Terrain Tamer one used far harder than I think I ever would, and with a two year warranty, I think this is the best compromise for me above the cheap eBay things and the cheaper Warn's.
