The 2007 Defender has the same CDL as the 2006 TD5 Defender - no button as reported in the original post, but engaged via the low range gear stick as before. This info has come direct from a few of the UK owners of the new vehicle. But if by CDL you mean "central door lock" - yes - its a button on the key fob.
One real change that wasn't mentioned - the doors and bonnet are now zinc coated steel.
Perhaps they had to put stronger drive shafts or rather unijoints to cope with the new low first gear and torquey engine.
This is from the Landrover UK website -
"Defender offers the convenience of electric front windows on all S and SE models. So whether you want to feel a gentle breeze or a full refreshing blast of air, it´s available at the push of a button."
It beats me why they feel the need to sex-up something as simple as power windows. They had the same wording on the previous version and it always puzzled me. Sometimes people just feel compelled to make a full paragraph out of one bullet point. Like saying -
"It's got a steering wheel, so whether you want the reassuring, direct feel of going straight ahead, or the unbridled excitement of life on the edge going around corners, it's available with just a turn to the left or right." Marketing idiots:nazilock:
It looks good in Dark Blue, but I wish the roof was white. Is that old fashioned of me?
Back seats look like proper seats too, not just a plank of ply with some padding.
Maybe with stiffer steel doors, the seals might actually work, surely they can add power to the rear windows as well, FFS its a 50k plus car. They could have changed the style of the alloys as well just so apart from the bonnet bulge it looks like they have spent some R&D money on it. At least the interior and seating has been drastically updated but does it still have that poxy handbrake lever position ?
