He lost me in the third paragraph with this quote......

"Well, there was a time when the Range Rover was the off-road vehicle in terms of its capabilities. As recently as the early 1980s - before Toyota and Nissan got their off-road acts together - there wasn't really anything that could touch a Range Rover when the bitumen stopped."

    Then there's this gem:

The one you don't want at any money is the Range Rover that is jacked up, wears big mud tyres and is festooned with everything from a high-lift jack to a brace of jerry cans and a winch.

An example equipped thus is very likely to have spent much of its life grumbling up the sides of mountains and bouncing down the other side.

If you're not sure, check the colour of the oil in each differential. Cloudy or milky oil is a sure sign that the vehicle has, at some stage in its life, been up to its axles (and probably more) in water.

Reads to me like a junior trainee cadet with no car experience wrote it...

If I was the ed of that publication I would have bounced it, bias notwithstanding... poor quality writing.....

    many assumptions, which are wrong...

ahh, the stress of the deadline....

make up any old crap and it'll get past, or passed.....

I'm sure there's a heap of owners of old RRs who'd like (at least) $2,000 for their RRC....
