    Alternator for disco 1

Hi all... my 95 Tdi disco has an alternator problem it's only charging at a little over 12v. It needs replacing or repairing asap. I have just been quoted $198 for a 2nd hand 1 or $600 for a newbie from a large LR workshop/wrecker here in adelaide. Is this a good price? or can somebody guide me to a better option I live in Adelaide I would prefer to get it local but will consider interstate for the right $.

Check out triumph rover spares at Lonsdale. This was about 1 or so years ago but I think they charged me around $200? for one of a much lower KM late model 300Tdi. (Mine is a March 94) You can search online for their details

I had a reco unit put in a few years ago for $200, which included a fashioning up a 'custom' lengthening jobbie on the adjustment arm - my auto sparky is such a nice bloke!

we got one for our 98 TDi for around the $320 mark, got it through our Local Autopro shop, it is the same as the LR unit (made in Italy) but without the LR sticker or price.

    Fitting is very easy
