    Snow!!!

Canberra region got quite a dumping of snow today. I didn't get snow but sleet. First time I have had to scrape the windscreen in the sleating rain. Took me a couple of hours to get to work.

My son called me this morning while driving Yass to Canberra for work - wanted to know if y9u could get black ice while it was raining - apparently there had just been a bulletin warning about it. He said it was raining on the Barton Hwy, but some of the other suburbs were snowing.

Fine here, but cold all day after a heavy frost this morning. Spent most of the day on the tractor taking advantage of the damp ground to grade roads without getting a pile of loose dust.

All a bit strange really - snowed down to about 600m to the east of Canberra cutting the road to the coast but there ia nothing on the mountains - Brindabellas - just to the west and these are around 1600 - 1800m. I couldn't see any snow on the mountains at all.

You guys are going to cop a series of cold blasts over the next week or so, it's a really bizarre pattern at the moment. Good for the ski resorts, wish we were going this year instead of last.

More deep lows off the NSW coast as well, they will get hammered again.

Funny, ain't it, snowing down there but I was working in the backyard today (western Sydney at the base of the Blue Mountains) wearing just a pair of shorts - no shoes or socks.

It wasn't cold - it was about 10 degrees.

Looks like the start of a decent winter, we had a blast in the High Country over the weekend, just before the main track closures.....hard to beat driving in the mountains in the white stuff.........
