    Smile LAND ROVER 130 Rims

    Hey Guys,

My Uncle has a Land Rover 130 and he would like to do some sand work. He has the standard rims and is chasing a Mags to suit a 130 (jazz His 130 just a little). Anyone have any ideas?

    Whereabouts are you?

What sort of wide rims? disco steels (16x7) or aftermarket (15x7, 15x8, 16x8)?

Are the 130 rims the type with the holes?

I would be happy to swap a set of disco 16x7s for the 130 rims if he is interested - but I am in Perth.

Tell him he has the best sand rims ever made!

Seriously, get him to read the sand driving threads here, even watch the 4wd Monthly vids - even the yobbos are now coming around to realising that tall but deflated tyres are better than wide in sand.

Plus, Defender is lighter than most 4x4s - has built-in sand flotation, so to speak.

Provided he uses sensible pressures (think 20PSI, give or take a bit) he'll p*ss all over the fat-tyred slugs around him.

Fat tyres = wide bow wave = extra effort to go forward = bogging, also = BIG $$$ unless you go under the standard 32" height of the stock tyres.

He'll have no shortage of people willing to swap their wide rims for his - H*ll, I'd BUY rims to swap with him!

130's use a wide offset than standard defender rims. if they are the wolf rims, the ones with all the round holes in the center, they are about 30mm wider offset than the standard defender or disco rims. they are also horrendously heavy and are ugly as sin, hang on to them, fit them with a quality mud or all-terrain tyre.
at leats that way your uncle will have the best wheels for his 130 and there will be less chance of seeing more wan kers with wolf rims on their defenders.

Slightly off the subject, in the near future i'll be looking to buy a set of steel rims to fit more aggressive tyres to, and leave the alloy's with road tyres on. Does any one know what price the should be going for? Or where to get them?
    Thanks, Dan.

$138.00 each for 16x8 offset disco rims from LRAutomotive.

I just got 5 for my offroad rubber, and ordered 5 more new custom (EWW) jobbies for the road rubber.... However, may swap the rubber over depending on how I'm feeling once both sets are here.

Id happyly trade my 33x12.5x15 buckshots on 15x8 30mm offset for a set of reversed d1 rims with 255x85x16 for the sand as the 12.5 are to hard to push through the sand even at 12psi they still require more loud pedal than the old set of 235x85x16 BFG A/T's i had on for a while ....

The fenda should be rite with a set of 235x85x16 for the sand at around 16psi they will go further than a wide set of tyres so tell him to keep what he has and experiment with pressures he will be amased at how good they work trust me ive been down this road ....

Tho my buckshots shine in the mud and rocks at 20psi
