    110 or 130

Can someone give me a comparison between the defender 110 and 130 off road capabilities.

Not that the 110 is lacking but the main difference seems to be cargo area, most situations where the rear over hang could be a problem might limit the 130 but from my limited experience with the 2, the 130 was the better for towing and went everywhere that I had gone in the 110.

The only real difference is the departure and breakover angles and the larger turning circle and maximum loaded mass of the 130, so although I have no real experience of the 130, I expect that in practice there is little difference - it is very hard to find the limits of the offroad capabilities of the 110.

Thats pretty much what I mean, in normal situations you would be hard pressed to reach the limits of either.

your probably better off talking to Hiline as he has a 130 and uses it like it was meant to be used and seems very happy with it, or Nat 130 as they have one as well.

I dont think a 130 would be much good as a comp rig but for touring and stuff they are great.

As John said, the ramp over angle is a bit less in a 130, in fact 1 got hung up on one of our trips....In front of a cruiser!!!!
But, they follow us everywhere we go in the Rangie, no other issues. In fact there are some places they are better, the wheelbase can give them more 'reach' when climbing up some rocky stuff.
They(110's and 130's) are both fantastic offroaders, the only way to truly decide is to get one of each!!!

Hi Claude, you will find that the 130 is less manouevreable than the 110 but it may not make much difference depending on where you drive.Tight tracks and getting between trees can be harder but desert crossings etc. are fine.In fact the 130 sometimes out performs the 110 in sand as the front axle is getting out of soft stuff about the time the rear is going in.Load capacity is marvellous.A friend crossed the Simpson in his 130 carrying all the extra petrol required for the two V8 Rovers with him and was the only vehicle to avoid bogging.I haven't been inconvenienced by the longer wheel base but I am not into extreme driving either.Round town the bigger turning circle can be a pain as it takes the odd extra turn to use supermarket spaces and reverse parking requires a longer space to park in.Cheers, 130man.

go to park in supermarket spaces

I think the seat set up in the 130 is different to that of the 110 and might be a little tight if you wanted adults to sit in the back often.

The back seat of mine is full of kiddie seats so not much space there. It's great if you've got lots of long thin things to store, but I find there's a bit of a shortage of storage space in the cab. That's made up for by the extra space in the back Easier, I guess, if you have a canopy.

    Cheers

    theyre close...

Id take the 110 offroad over the 130.

Id take the 130 for carting stuff around in the city or long distance.

But I prefere the 110 for towing with...

biggest difference is the ramp over, the departure and the annoying tendancy of me forgetting the amount of cut in the 130 has.

turning round tight corners, the rear wheels come closer to the curb, tree etc than the front wheels.... the longer the wheel base the more the cut in

ever seen a truckie take out a set of traffic lights?
