I'll bet the front seats needed cleaning after that.
The car belonged to Her Majesties Coastguard.
2 part-time coastguards answered an emergency one night in 1992 at Berwick-on-Tweed.
When the driver backed up he didn’t see the edge of a cliff and drove over it.
After a free fall of 80 ft (26 meters or a 9-stories building) the Landrover landed on the roof on a heap of rocks.
The two coastguards were able to walk away with just a few minor scratches.
Despite the structural strenght of the Land Rover there was a great deal of luck involved. Both were rescued by a Helicopter who noticed the lights pointing skywards.
lottery ticket time IMHO!

Saw one that looked very similar to that here in Halls Creek this week. Yet another victim of the Tannami.
A set of racks made up in the back appeared to have saved them from being squashed.

Used to dive near Berwick Upon Tweed.......lovely part of Scotland![]()
These guys are very lucky indeed to walk away after a fall from that height.....plus never nice to see a LR or any car for that matter with that much damage.
Aye, mick
from memory the truck was featured in LROI as it was bought as a write off and rebuilt!

True. But most seem t be statutory write-offs. And it doesn't need much to make them SWO.
I think that one would meet these criteria for a SWO:
The bit about damage to the roof may be applicable for most cars but for a Landie, it's a simple replacement - even on classic Rangies.- A motor vehicle, other than a motorbike, that has been damaged by at least three of the following impact damage indicators:
- damage to an area of the roof equal to or exceeding 300mm x 300mm
- damage to an area of the cabin floor pan equal to or exceeding 300mm x 300mm
- damage to an area of the firewall equal to or exceeding 300mm x 300mm
- any damage to the suspension
- damage in the form of cracks or breaks to major mechanical components (examples of major mechanical components - engine block, transmission casings
