You answered your own question and if you did buy one you would be another sucker

A mate of mine bought one 2 and a half years ago and has not had any dramas , go figure maybe most of those horror storys from the past have been sorted over the years

I own one and as much as I like it, I wouldn't recommend one unless you can afford the maintenance.

Actually, it's the uncertainty that is the worst bit. When will the next thing fail and how much will it cost. It is not stress-free ownership/driving.

So as much as you love ithe p38, Would yo say I was better to keep my 97 Discovery?

driving them would be like chalk and cheese, the p38a is a seriously nice car to be in, i have ridden in Rons and its a nice truck. There is a coil spring conversion you can do to eliminate the worry of the expensive components of the air suspension failing, compressors i hear are freakily costly to replace. Matt
