In the end I decided to buy my own diamond blade, as I have quite a few jobs I will need it for on the house. Did the job with ease - cut like butter through most of the concrete, only slowed down when I got to sections with lots of reo.
Started out using the blade on a crappy circular saw I knew was on the way out - managed to do a 1" deep cut the whole way around before that saw stripped all the teeth from the armature. Finished the job with a decent saw.
Oh and before anyone asks - I wore appropriate PPE, and hosed the pipe down between cuts (more to keep the blade cool and make it cut easier - but it also kept the dust down).
