Hi,
i am thinking of doing a business degree or related at some time in the future and I'm trying to work out what the different courses that are offered at the Uni's will provide what skills.
I'm interested in Business Strategy/Development, the Property Market and also I'm interested in History.
UniSA has a Bach of Business (property) course as well as Bach of International Business which also Adel uni and Flinders Uni have as well. They all have their Admin Management and Human Resources courses as well. Adelaide uni business degrees (commerce) seem to be geared more at Finance and Accounting than Business.
Anyone have any ideas on what would be good or know where i can find some information?
thanks
Smac

Mate, yep business person here. I did a Commerce degree, majored in Management and Marketing. It is more in the electives that can gear you to a particular area, whereas the foundation sublects covered a wide range of subjects from Organisational Behavior, Law, Accounting, HRM etc. Of course different uni's may have different structures,

Stevo
thanks guys
i wasnt sure how much help the uni career advisors would be. i went to one 'info center' and they just gave me a brochure!
but i will ring around to them and see if I can organise a time
You really need to know where you want to go in the end, as in what field.
Mind you, business and property will have the same/similar first year units and it will be easy to swap around later.
I have a BCom(Property), but started out doing accounting, then went and tried a double major in applied physics/computer programming
and, after receiving a high distinction in Tavern 101
, then moved to property.
12 years after graduating I bought my D3!![]()
Make sure what you do you actully enjoy it as uni can be a lonley place if you dont like what you are doing. I have a business degree in HRM and accounting but hated every minute at uni. as i was doing it cause every one else was. During holidays i worked on a building site and loved every minute. When i completed my degree I signed up as an electrical apprentice at tafe. Best move i ever made!!!. I now run a very sucsessful electrical business specialising in smart home tecnology. 4 cars 2 landys the other 2 i wont mention as i will cop a bagging.and a house in sydney quite proud. So you will know what you will want to do after you do something you dont want to do.
Although doing the degree helps in running the business and working with staff.
Have fun.
