He said he checked the compliance plate etc and its a 98, so it must be a pre-production vehicle or something because all the people who said it cant be a series 2 would be right, they werent in aus until 99 as far as i thought. Matt

kinda like i found out last week that there is a guy on the GC with a '90 model 2 door rangie... i said WTF can't be a '90 model... and hence i became aware of the RR CSR model with only 200 made (and numbered) and number 14 living happily and immaculately on the gold coast

You can definitely buy 98 build DII's in Australia, as some were brought in prior to their mainstream release in '99. My mate in Melbourne (so he tells me) has been told by Vic Roads that he has the first registered TD5 in Victoria (and possibly Australia), also a '98 build.
