Can you drive all the way over Spicer's yet? I went up there in 2003 but only as far as the picnic spot below Governor's Chair. The Parks people had put up a locked gate across the road to stop access to the top section. I went all the way up, along with a schoolmate in 1956. We rode our pushbikes from Brisbane to Pozieres via Spicer's and home via Cunningham's Gap during the August holidays. Stayed at his wrinklies orchard in between rides. We had to carry our bikes over damaged & burnt bridges on the top section. Some work must have been done after that as I went all the way up and over in 1965 with another friend in his early sixties Falcon station wagon. Bridges were dodgy looking, I recall, but we managed to get over them. The well off to the east on the first section past the old pub site is now full of soil.

Iam more interested in the brew ur drinking cause usually when i start drinking i stop thinking. keep it up.
Tis a sad fact that one cannot traverse the range after the Governers chair lookout carpark, there is a section between the carpark and the Mt Matheson trail that is locked for "histerical"oops meant "historical" artifacts eg,construction types used by the builders at the time ,not much of which is in evidence nowadays ,and after a run on saturday have found that entry into the park from the western side has now also been "locked off"reducing a nice little play track of a few hours exploration down to a half hour drive down freshly dozed road, luckily we found a few puddles to play in that just satisfied my mud lust for now,oh well the search for new tracks now begins![]()
Save your self the effort Dave, just drink a bit more and go steel a Tank or a Dozer or something as it will be cheaper (after all the fines) and you would get an all expenses paid vacation after wards to sober up.
Anyway mate, good luck with it and lots of photo's will be expected if you get it underway.
