The bridge on the bypass road around Tamworth (Nemingha-Farrer High-Calala) has been closed to heavy traffic for years thus forcing all semi-trailers and B-doubles to take the road through Tamworth, longer and slower, and a nuisance to the citizenry.
G'day All, Larry I would agree that it is a masterpeice of bush engineering, and the pollies as I said wouldn't know if you were up them with a steam loco until you blew the whistle long and hard, cheers mate Dennis:wasntme:
Was just wondering how many bridges are in existence, and in use, that were constructed by our great-grand-daddies or even convicts. Pretty damned sure they never had an army of degree toting idiots pondering on the problem for years before construction commenced.
If you want to see bridges go to PNG, there are a couple in Eastern Highlands that are bobby dazzlers, never been sea-sick crossing a bridge before.
I say good on them, typical government will procastinate for years before anything happens, they need the bridge now! They built one! State will probably put a toll on it now, to raise the money to replace it.
Good stuff. I haven't been to Licola for years now, since 2000 or so.
It's pretty sh..ty for Vic roads to say that but worse that they didn't get in there quicker to do something to help. But I guess they've gotta cover themselves in this day and age of legal rot- not that it should slow there response to helping in these situations.
