Hmm. My bus - '91 V8 with 258,00km, manual, loaded for a 3 month trek ie: roof rack with tyre, jerries, swag on top and chokkas with waaay too much crap, heading from Fords Bridge (near Bourke) to Tibooburra - we got 28.5 litres per 100km or 3.5km per litre. Mind you we were pushing a nasty headwind. Best we got (Cairns to Brissy) was 14.2 litres/100 or 7km/litre. Round town (empty) 22L/100 (4.5km/L) to 18L/100 (5.5km/L)..depending on how heavy my right boot is
I've tried PULP for a few tanks and didn't notice much of a difference - not enough to keep up the mortgage payments anyway.![]()
Has anyone tried acetone as a fuel additive?
The worst on road fuel consumption I've ever had was a trip to Falls Creek with a Thule box on the roof and fully loaded for 4 adults. The average was 32L/100km.
We stayed half way up the mountain at Bogong village and driving the cold V8 (running rich) up and down the winding road each day sucked a lot of fuel - I watched the gauge move.
The Thule box was longer than the disco's roof.

Interesting to poll the the difference beween Auto and Manual V8
and 3.5, 3.9, 4.0, 4.6 etc
I really noticed a loss after fitting a snorkle, before that I could get about 13-14l/100km hwy and 18l/100km in the city. Now, having done a lift, larger tyres etc. it's worse.
94 D1 update Auto.
City 26l/100
Country 22l/100
