I smoked for 22 years B&H Specials. Tried 100 times to give up. Then work ran a course 8 years ago called SMOKENDERS.

Have not had one since. Check them out. This was the only way I gave them up. And never felt better. Now hate the smell of a smoke. Good to see the govt. has banned smoking from clubs and pubs for good in NSW.

Now we just have to move them away from the doors of large buildings and the airport and we will all be much better off

Back to the start of the thread - re the other things you could do with the money - about forty years ago a colleague of mine quit when he worked out I was learning to fly on what he spent on cigarettes - and stayed quit. He didn't learn to fly though.

For those of you who find it hard to give up mainly because its a thing which goes hand in hand with having a beer or a coffee or its something to do with your hands, there is a product I used called nicorette inhaler. Basically its a little plastic thingy about the size of a ciggy which you put a cartridge into and suck on whenever you feel the urge. Shouldnt do you too much harm as theres not that much wrong with nicotine by itself, its just the additive nature of it which causes you smoke.

One method I tried was that I never actually told myself I had given up forever. I kept a packet in my top drawer and kept promising myself I would have a couple tomorrow or on the weekend and just kept putting it off.
It was a great feeling having that packet in the drawer and knowing that I could have one when I wanted to not when I needed to.

That was about five years ago, I dont miss them.

    Give it a go.

What craps me is that I gave up for 2 years about 3 years ago.But you know the story, out having a beer etc, I can just have one to prove I dont need it blah blah. You have to admit that its an addiction and you will always be a smoker whether you smoke or not, just like your always an alcoholic.

See if we get a few more, but if not we'll work something out.

I gave it up 10 years ago after smoking for 25 years, I tried many times unsucessfully to give up, until I decided, as you've done, to use the money normally spent on fags to purchase an item we really needed, in this case a computer, if you have a goal to work to you have something to see for your efforts, it really helps, Regards Frank.

im 30 now and have been smoking since 21. its amazing how quickly you get addicted. i feel angry at my self for starting so late in life. i had tried a few back in high school, but being naive about them i didnt realize you had to inhale LOL.
but if i buy a disco ill definately have to give them up. the 3 evils of the world are booze, smokes and women.
well, i get drunk about once every 4 years so i'm ok on that front. ill give up the smokes and try to use all my will power to keep off them. the last evil will be considerably harder......
