Why is that? They were the only ones who would give me a reasonable premium at a truly agreed value, not one that we agree on and then next year change it without consultation!Quote:

They're money grabbing a holes....
The company uses underwriters like Vero.. Good luck if you need to claim.
They also use requirements like "must be a 4wd club member" which is not in the TP act...
Our 4wd club was ripped off a substantial amount to insure an event (we supposedly needed more than the clubs usual insurance) only to receive a letter stating we would have been covered under the existing policy AFTER the event had been run...
DGA will do agreed value, and for me do it on both the 4wd's AND at a cheaper premium. I also have glass annually and a few other bits and pieces that TCIS wanted an arm, leg and my left one to cover.
And thats not even going into the manager/owner and his personal attitude/behaviour
AAMI was $200 cheaper for me than TCIS, who I got the sh1ts with when I was told "because thay were switching to CGU from NRMA " no more by the month and policy plus $200.
BUT my policy was issued by CGU anyway.
Gofiggure.
So tried a few and AAMI got the vote, AND they do not try the old +20% in second year.
I have not had at fault claims,(for over 20 years) but my daughter has had and AAMI were really good to deal with.

I'm with CGU but looking to jump when I finish reading the fine print of some of the others.
CGU stated that common sense applies and as long as the vehicle is used within capabilities (read: specifications). When pushed, the operator queried the underwriters and given an example of a river carrying the Disco away...they said not covered. Suppose 500mm wading depth is the limit according to them.
Allied have provided a good premium but their fine print is very detailed and long ( a good thing ) but when you read things like, if the policy states the vehicle is parked in a garage however at the time of theft or damage, the vehicle has been parked outside said garage for more than 2 consecutive nights i.e. parked in the street while you're pulling apart your Series II project (:p) not covered.
The likely hood of this happening is the unknown which I'm not to comfortable with. Drivers need to be nominated otherwise $$$ excess applies.
Still looking...
The other fine print for "offroad" is gazetted roads only.
DGA (4wd insurance) is Full offroad.... Anywhere in Aus...
Yes CGU underwrite it, but CGU have a special offroad policy for it too, its different to their usual vehicular policy.
Also, having made several non fault claims with CGU for both accident and theft, they are fantastic.
We had one vehicle into the repairer (of our choosing) 1/2 hour after the impact and they were inspecting it (assessor) within an hour...
Approval was done on the spot and the vehicle is better than when we got it (The Zook)
All this without question on a Vitara with an 8" lift.
GIO. Had no probs yet but also havn't made a claim.
DGA is the insurance company that I’ll stick to, reason being that they will allow modifications and lift greater then 2 inch as long as I presume engineered
Company such as NRMA will only insure you for mods at 30% of the value of the car
When I was talking to DGA they advised that they don’t care how large your lift is however should it need to be repaired they will only repair to standard height how true this who knows
