    New Canberra Dealer

Has anyone had experiences (good or bad) with the "new" Canberra dealership? I called in yesterday to find a couple of blokes who wouldn't know a landrover from a John Deere, so I just had a bit of a look at the TDV6 SE, maybe a new one is on the horizon. Apparently the dealer principal and the salesman were both away.

I'm wondering what their servicing is like, the new showroom looks a little under funded.
I might add that I bought two discos from the previous incarnation of Rolfe Landrover and am familiar with their service. /sarcasm off

Have had nothing but woeful service for the last 5 years (D1 tdi200, freelander td4, TD5 Fender and D3 TDV6 SE). To list just a few of the more notable memories from my dealings with rolfe:
    1. 5 return visits to have non working stero in the D3 replaced. They claimed everything from bad C.D's to user error! Finally replaced a now working fine!
    2. Fender was on a Corp Service plan (i.e. free scheduled servicing for duration of warranty). Had arguements at every service as to who would be footing the bill! On one occasion, after picking the fender up and, again, explaing that it was on a service plan, the guy behind the counter said "if we had of known that we wouldn't have done half the work that we did"
    3. On numerous occasions, I have shown up for a service that has been booked, only to be told that they have no record of it and that I'll need to book again, usually 2 to 3 weeks!

I have yet to purchase any of my landies from Rolfe, aside from ongoing service issues their sales staff seem equally inept (I have tried, but to no avail, my last attempt resulted in a 6 week wait for a trade-in price on the fender for the D3!!).
If there was another landie dealer in town, I'd be there in a shot!

It is the same dealership just a new location. Has just moved from Rolfe Classic (BMW) to Rolfe Volvo - Landrover and Volvo. The current location (the old Mazda area) is just temporary until the new buuldings are complete.

They still have the same crap sales people who know nothing about the cars and no longer use the same service area as BMW. At least they knew a little about Landrovers. Not much though.

I take my D1 to Canberra Motor Works in Mitchell for work. Ray is very thorough and finds things when they start wearing out rather than when you're stuck in the middle of nowhere. And he's helped me out with a problem when I was in central western Qld over the phone. He's not cheap though...

I don't take mine to the dealer for service either, I just wondered if they had improved at all considering the "under new management" pitch that they have been pushing in the press here. I believe my question is now answered Thanks all

As a rule, most of our LR owner members try to find an alternative to Rolfe for service, some take the trip to Sydney, spend the day shopping while they get the service done.
I have tried to establish Club discount etc with Rolfe, have thought I had sorted it, and a member declares their membership, and has to argue about the discount. If the management has changed, I'll try again.

Only had one thing done there. When I was having the head done I had them remove the injectors as two other places had failed. They were healpfull and it cost me a case of beer. Down side was they forgot to mark which ones went where. Land Rover mechanic did drive out to my place to set the injectors up in the ECU once it went back together.

I guess different people have different experiences but I could never recommend Canberra Motor Works. Suffice to say I don't have high regard for their capabilities, their service or their pricing.

    Hi All,

It sounds like the name "ROLFE" is the problem!!
I have just sold a two year old VW Golf. The main reasons were the vehicle was often requiring small warranty claims attended to (nothing serious enough to grind it to a halt but annoying little things that went wrong).

In EVERY instance, except once, when the replacement parts were ordered they would invariably have the incorrect parts arrive (after waiting a month to arrive)!! I could not work out if they were ordering the wrong parts or VW were just sending the wrong ones. This seemed to be a regular occurrence.

The other L/Rover service people that seem to be OK, from people I've spoken to, are Morwood Motors in Fyshwick (they've just moved to Townsend St).

    Dennis.
