Freelander 2 - useless ad, stupid LRA marketing

    G'day Guys

I am pretty sure most people would have by now seen the Freelander 2 adverts showing on TV - especially during Top Gear!!!

How useless are LRA Marketing Dept? how can they expect to sell a car with a chequered history when first of all the car is a Left Hand Drive and the whole bloody ad is in Chinese. This is disrespectful to all Aussies and potential Freelander 2 buyers.

This is a half arsed attempt to sell a good car - shame on you LRA Marketing. I understand budgets rule the day, after all I am an Accountant myself but bloody hell get some things right.

Bring Back Australian Adverts for the Australian market!!!

I hate the car adds that write in tiny letters near the bottom of the screen,,

    "European model shown"

"How long since you've visited The Good Oil?"

What I found extremely odd with this ad is that, given LR are always trying to overcome a perception of unreliability...

Why pitch an ad around fortune telling? A vision of what might happen? Who believes fortune tellers? The abilities of the F2 are portrayed as mythical!

By all means go for the quirky & offbeat, get people talking, but it sends all the wrong messages for me.

Hopefully it means there wont be enough around to clutter up the emergency lanes on aussie freeways.

I dont like the car, the add or the idea of LR wasting money on something that will just bury them with another lemon that the freo is.

Great looking car but thats where it ends.

Have you got any factual information to back up that opinion?

We have a Freelander 2 here (diesel auto). It looks great, drives very nicely and is well appointed. If the build quality is at the same level as a Disco 3 (and there is no reason it won't be), then it should be reliable too.

i was of the impression that (so far) they are reliable. I haven't read or heard of anyone complaining...

I think they have the potential to be a great vehicle, particularly if they are as reliable as the D3, and as has already been stated there is no reason why they shouldn't be.

The biggest mistake was keeping the Freelander name, that in itself will put people off buying them.
