Probably more than that, add insurance cover, excess waiver, etc.

Sonme want more if you are going outside the metro area. I found the same when I hired a ute from Budget. I was going from Sydney to Newcastle so they charged more. If I'd hired a car that wouldn't have happened. (I could have thrown the Rover V8 block in the boot of a car...)

Check out the Car Transport companies, if the car is drivable and has brakes, so as they can drive it onto the double deck car transporter trailer, it would have to be a lot cheaper than driving up and back hauling a trailer both ways, if you hire a trailer near where your p/up is and only tow it one way you will double the daily hire cost, check it out, I bought a Workshop trailer (ex-army) in Brisbane, had a transport company pick it up and transport it to Sydney for $400, it would have cost me more than that in fuel to drive up and return, Regards Frank.

This will be cheaper. Most hire companies will charge you a return cost also. After you consider fuel, overnight accomodation and two days of your time.
