Like to take the Defender on a trip with the new Landcruiser......

Be like a Saturday night dance..... the good looking chic wants to look even better so she arrives with her ugly mate...

If my Ol' Defender could talk I bet she'd be saying ... park me next to the Cruiser, please, please Barra - I feel even more beautiful when you park me next to one.

I think Ssangyong look alike and I dont understand why as I think they are the ugliest car on the road but in saying that, one of my suppliers BIL is a Ssangyong dealer and their warrenty repairs are at 5% of sales accross oz where the bigger manufacturers are supposed to be in the 10% to 15% range.

Im not relying on that though as it is here say but Im sure if someone was interested in that sort of thing they could find the stats somewhere.

As far as this Toymotor goes, I think they could do a lot worse than just punching out some more 80 series with a fresh driveline, at least they would have a credible 4wd as that thing looks crap in my eyes.

Pagyongota is what it should be called as it looks similar to a Pag, is as ugly as a Ssangyong and made by Toymotor.

Why they think this is what people want to buy is beyond me but I suppose that the off road market is really only a small nieche of their whole market.

I say send it back and try again and when it looks like a Defender they have it right lol.

    side view

If you look at the side view it almost looks as if the wheels are fitted with those shiny hub caps that keep spinning when the car comes to a stop. Fitted by most Indian drivers over here

That's why it will sell. It's aimed at the executive who wants to pose. It will blend in well with things like the X5 and ML's

The only new Landcruiser worth mentioning, imo, is the new 70 series. Got the old style look, 4.5 litre v8 turbo diesel, proper diffs etc. One of the few real 4wd's left on the market. And I'd have one in an instant...if I had coin to spend on a new 4wd.

That new one looks like sh.t. Very poor form from Toyota. But they are around to make money and since most 4wd buyers are weak as p.ss, city toorak tractor driving poofs then it will fit the market demand well.

Sorry for replying ot an old thread but I wanted to add my 2c!

    Cheers, Glen.
