Angry Selling/Buying Aust Army gear from E-bay

    Just a helpfull hint.
There has been alot of Australain Army gear surfacing on the E-bay system lately, some it is illegal to sell (DIG's) ie in-service/current items-clothing/ ARN plates ect ect ect.
Now before everyone gets panicky its not the gear that can be a proven purchased at Government auction yards/disposal stores around the country, its gear sold from serving/ex-serving members selling there kit to earn a few $ before pay day.
At the moment the crabs have been drawn towards persons selling Aust Army should patches for $50 and saying there "rare", crap there is heaps around, poor b&%%ers that already paid for them, one paid $83 for 3. Someone is also selling ARN plates.
This has now gone to the Red Hats and they have had a unit policing this for awhile.
So ladies/gents be carefull buying you next "really cheap out of a car boot" item.
    Cheers

    Thumbs up

Well done mate ! Some of the items are in violation of ebay's own rules too...

btw, one of the items you mentioned is actually in short supply within Army. It really pi.... me off seeing them being sold.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that other sites are being watched as well....

    Hi all,
As a serving member I reserve the right to neither confirm nor deny that it happens.
However there is one group of folk whom I am always ready to fleece at a moments notice......Americans, yes thats right, partners in the alliance, big brother, George Dubbyas mob.
There is a healthy, almost obscene profit to be made from selling Aust Army stuff to GI's. It's almost sport

Slouch hats have been known to change hands at over US$300.00 in Bagdad.
The above mentioned patches regularly fetch $150.00-$200.00, again in the middle east, less at home.

In fact, GI's have been known to buy 'nasty imitation' Aust gear, just coz it is being peddled by an Aussie!

I myself was bunking with a GI who proudly displayed his 'genuine' Rising Sun Badge, bought from a local peddler who, I found out had hundreds made at the base tailor! Funny thing was, the embroidery was done on US cam pattern, so that it matched their ****.
I just wish I had taken a crate of genuine Aust boot laces or a box of genuine Aust Army pencils.....mmmmm $5 ea, 100000 GI in Bagdad.....ka-ching ka-ching$$$$$$

I am with Pete here WRT selling what doesn't belong to you.

Btw the patches in the Middle East are of a different colour and handed out everwhere but, the ones we have to wear at home have been difficult to get.

In some units at home, if you get the one - you are lucky.

Ralph1malph, I would be a lyre if I said I haven't done the same thing, K86, Diamond $ 88, K89, Military Tattoo, The Yanks are only there for our entertainment , but taking advantage of people, Australians, I don't agree. Selling items to the un-educated saying "Rare" you and I know that these arn't "Rare" at all. Anyway, just a heads up its now getting dealt wth at a higher level.
OLMATE We are only just getting new cams ect in our Unit now to ARA always nice seeing new Rec's coming out of Kapooka with the new gear and we had to wait.

Maybe the ADF could get them made in their 1, 000s by the back street peddler?

    I wholeheartedly agree!
I do not support it, nor condone it, but it happens.
I take action where I can. But many see a fast buck.

We have almost everyone in these things now, it has taken a while. And yes - new recuits and the like do seem to get 'the gear' before the rest of us.
