If it is 4 cylinder it is a TDI but if it is 5 cylinder it is a TD5 engine built by BMW, BUT there is a possibity that it is an old stock TDI which would have been a "Runout" model. Others on here would be able to help you.

Sorry UncleHo - TD5 was never a BMW motor, this is the last true LR motor

TD4 & TD6 are BMW motors :D

No centre diff lock in that model, so it's basicly an AWD not 4WD, if you can, try for a late model 2003 Disco (that's build date) as they have the centre diff lock.

When I was looking I had to have an Auto for two reasons Dad was an Auto dude and that I’m getting lazy in my young age

I test Drived an 04 HSE D2 TD5 Auto, I hope I’m not high jacking but Christ talk about snail pace I couldn’t handle driving that, So I opted for V8 and now cant handle the fuel stops its a catch 22 thing
