Installing a new lift on Disco

I finally got my coils and springs for my D1 and due to my lack of time over the next few weeks; I thought I would ask my mechanic how much he would charge to fit them.

He thought around $300, for a round 4.5 to 5 hours of labor as he needs to remove the airbags to do the job.

I guess I'm after some clarification here from those of you who have done this type of job before, is it really hard? Because if I have to remove the airbags, I will have to take it to him to do.

    coils and springs?
    did you mean coil springs?

a couple of years ago I was quoted $200 for labour for new shocks n springs.
I didn't think it was too bad but after doing it myself decided it's pretty easy.

I haven't got airbags though, are you putting them back in again inside the spring?
If they are after market and need refitting I don't suppose and extra $100 is out of the question for labour.
Works out @ $75 a corner if you are going to a proper garage thats about right I would think

Ooops... yes, I meant coils and shocks
It is an aftermarket kit, I guess when you break it down to $75 a corner it's not too bad.... the weird thing to me was that he thinks he needs to remove the airbags????

I'm with DW, the airbags are inside the vehicle and you dont go anywhere near them to fit new springs/ shocks. Cave your cash and do it your self, rears will take an hour maybe and the fronts a little longer. I'm sure there is a forum menber close by that could give you a hand for a couple of hours. At worst you may need a spring compressor but most of the time you can get them in without one.
