This warnig is for all shooters or thse who wish to obtain a shooters licence it concerns A.V.O's (apprehended violence orders)
I have just found out that i can no longer have the choice to have a friearms licence they tell me its because of an AVO that was placed on me 3.5 years ago and expired 1.5 years ago because of this i now cannot hold a shooters licence until 10years after the expiary of the AVO this means i cannot apply for a licence until jan 2016 which i think is a f@rkin joke the twit that put the AVO on me is a convicted criminal and he now resides in tasmania ......
Tho the worst bit is my right to appeal is no longer available because there is no longer a current AVO only the legislation that states that i cannot have a licence until 2016 tho if i had of applyed to have the matter nullafied whilst the order was current it could have been nullafied as the b@stard who put the AVO on me lived far enough away from me .....
I think that this is a joke as i was not informed that this would happen as there was little or no information at all given to me if i had of known this was goin to happen i would have done something about it and had the AVO nullafied ......
So be warned if someone puts an AVO on you make sure you understand the whole thing i spoke to a solicitor who deals with this stuff and he has told me that i have no chance and will only waste my money trying he also said tell all your mates who shoot that if somthing like an AVO or any sort of court proceedings go against you to contact the sporting shooters association and they will put you in touch with some one in their area who can help and give advice to stop these people loosing or not having the right to have a shooters licence ......

130's rule
I feel for you. I would hate to loose my licence. Have you thought of contacting the Shooters Party in the NSW parliament and see if they can do anything for you?
You can see the poor service that shooters get by simply ringing the Firearms Registry which is now in Murwillumbah. On the dozen or so times I have rung to try and resolve a simple problem I had, you are on hold for 45 minutes then you get frustrated and leave a message which they return in a week or so if you are lucky.
If you are a law abiding shooter you are a second class citizen in the eyses of the government.

I know it might be a bit late now, but did you contest the AVO, I had 2 taken out by my Ar$eho!e neighbour and my solicitor told me not to worry about it, I went to the Chamber Magistrate and he advised to fight the AVO otherwise it can be used against you at a later date. So I did and the Judge laughed my neighbours out of court and warned them against trying it again. Maybe the SSAA can help you, especially if you explain the situation, hope this helps, Regards Frank.
This highlights a problem with AVO's. They are certainly genuinely needed in some circumstances, but because they don't cost anything and can be sought maliciously, they can often be used as a means of getting back at a person.
I know of a guy whose marriage went pear shaped. He had several firearms, including some very expensive big bore stuff that he used for competition shooting. His ex laid an AVO on him and the cops fronted up with a warrant to sieze all of his firearms. They didn't get them because he wasn't home at the time.
When the cops finally got in touch with him they told him that he needed to surrender his guns. He didn't have any idea that an AVO was on him. He refused and when the cops asked why, he stated that he had been overseas for the previous 3 months, including the time when he was supposed to be making the threats to his ex, so why was there an AVO on him?
The cops followed it up and agreed that it could not have been possible for him to make the threats, but that the AVO would have to stand until a Magistrate heard the case, and he would have to surrender his firearms anyway.
Again he refused and he even went to the trouble of relocating the guns because he knew he would have the Devil's own job getting them back again. The cops busted his butt, charging him with hindering Police, but it went to court and he got off. His ex was charged with making a false complaint but was given a spent conviction. In other words she got off.
She made two subsequent applications for AVO's and each time he had to go to court to defend his rights. It cost him heaps of dough....more than it would have cost to have a professional hitman get rid of her!
The system sucks. There is no presumption of innocence when it comes to the person named in the AVO. The complaints are rarely investigated properly before an order is issued.
I know we have to protect inncent people from violent offenders, but the law should be applied without favour.
Cheers,
Russ.
How would you feel if someone took out an AVO against you for no good or legal reason and it was hanging over your head for 10 years, AVO's are the most abused legal avenue ever, they should only be used where there is a Valid reason, not because some ar$eho!e doesn't like you, BTW I defended my self and won, against the A'holes solicitor, if your in the right it is not hard to defend yourself, Regards Frank.
Your a metalwork magician, with a brother who's a ninja why do you need a gun? Just get a few lessons and build yourself a Katana or something to reep havok.
In the meantime try on of these out
