The Hiddins(bush tucker man) 110's
Having seen nearly all the episodes and the survival series (Yes, I am a 'fan')I wonder if Les himself still owns a 110? He has soft spot for these I see, and the last filming he did showing one was back in 1996 or so.
Any one heard about what he is up to with Pandanus park etc?
Missed the australian story (Or was it 4 corners?) story on this a while back.
Always someone I would really like to meet one day, bit of a character, we need more like him!

I was wondering if anyone has any personal experiences actually, like met him on their travels or similar. ( Probably likes to keep to himself now I reckon!) Can't seem to extract any really recent stuff off the net, most is '05 and earlier.
Thanks.

Met a bloke a couple of years ago who said the original 120" Isuzu 3.9 was still sitting in his shed, a little the worse for wear. He said the seats were worn down to rusty springs.
Rough life.
Cheers

He sold the white mil spec county on a few years ago. Ive written to the fellow that owns it now and he bought it directly from Les and is aware of its history. I believe Les now drives a rangy classic. That reminds me i must write to that guy again and see if hes willing to sell the county to me yet
. There are some photos of it in my gallery if your interested

Yeh,
I went to uni with Les' daughter.
I met Les on a few occasions - he'd always start with "How's that old Land Rover of yours going?" (at the time I was driving a Series 3 ex-army MP's truck).
The original truck - the green Army one you should remember from the first series lived in the same suburb as Les, in Townsville. I remember driving past it once and Les' daughter pointed it out to me. It only moved a few streets!
The white 110 lived on Magnetic Island, at the family's holiday house. During the wet season, it would be brought over and the kids would use it to get around in. Later on, I re-discovered the car at a LROCV meeting in Melbourne. I suspect it was sold because the kids at left home and no one drove it anymore. I've lost touch with his daughter, so can't confirm it...I wish I'd known it was for sale though!
When I was in Townsville, Les was still working for LRA. He was on his second new Discovery (a V8). He drowned the first one (a diesel) driving through floods without a snorkel. He was also supposed to get a Tanami edition 110 for the work he did on that model - LRA never provided it to him.

We waved to eachother as we drove across Ivanhoe Crossing in Kununurra, when they were filming the Defender adverts up there. I was just looking at some photos the other day of all the Defenders perched up on the rocky bank of the Ord River, that I'd taken at the time (early to mid 90's).
- but nothing recent.

I know he used to have a TD5 Disco. I say used to, because it was in the yard here at work three years ago. Upside down doesn't do them any good at all...

Thanks everyone,
Some interesting comments. That white 110 Mickkelly was the one I would've liked to have bought IF I had seen it at the time.
Upside down doesen't sound good Bigjon, care to elaborate?
