    It's all bloody Rons fault...........

All his talk about getting a "new" old landrover made me think.....................and bid..........................and buy this:

It's a 1954 86" running a Nissan LD28 automatic with power steer and power brakes. The guy I bought it off says it's X-army, but I don't know if I believe that. I bought it as a non runner, but the engine now goes ok, but the transfer case is stuffed, ran without oil.

    coming home

    LD28

    inside

    Power steer

    Transfer case

Transfer case dug up from the garden to go in

Now it's time for a lot of late nights......thanks Ron

Congratulations, that looks fantastic! (I wish my Series 1 was transported that way but that's another story ) How does it run with the Nissan diesel? Capable of pulling road-trains perhaps? Your garden sounds interesting too!
Btw - I'm coming to the conclusion that (if you dig deep enough) most of the things that happen around AULRO are Ron's fault.

Very nice! There's something about a Series I that is cute. I wonder if my wife would....no, forget it?!

It reminds me of a Series I that passed my RR on the way to Cooma for the 50th. It had a Nissan donk and went past me like I was standing still - I was at 110km/h.

What gave it away (when I saw it at Cooma) was the 6-stud wheels.

I hope there is another Ron on this forum who can take all the blame for bad things happening.

This is my 3rd LD28 powered land rover, top speed in my first 1 s111 3 109 hard top was 150 km/h. the 2nd one was a soft top so top speed was not an issue, it did however pull our 16' caravan with ease. This auto one is remains to be seen. I just hope I dont end up with Rons luck.............
