I have a VDO tacho in the instrument cluster (But you probably have that on a TD5 already?) and turbo boost, oil pressure and voltmeter in the new centre console/dash. I also have a digital EGT, and a low water alarm.
Hey everyone after deciding what brand of aftermarket gauges to get. which ones should i install ? i was thinking Oil temp, Oil pressure, Tacho, Voltmeter. whats everyone think ?? anything i should choose instead of the ones i have thought of. whats a Boost/turbo gauge do ??
Thanks Regards Adrian

I have Speco gauges in my Rangie - Temp / Boost / Oil Pressure / Volt 1 / Volt 2
I will be putting VDO ones into my D110 - so they all match - Rev in the Dash and Boost / Oil Pressure / Volt 1 / Volt 2 / EGT in a Mudpod

Whats better out of Mechanical or Electronical ??

all in the application and choice really. I go Elec as its easier and generally cheaper.
Elec has sensors - so need to mount them, pretty easy but the down side of elect is if they get wet etc they can read wrong. Also Elec ones only use about 30% of the gauge when reading the scales whereas a mechanical uses about 70% of the gauge if you know what I mean.

Better is subjective. Electric rely on a sender unit, whereas mechanical will use a tube to bring the measured fluid right up to the gauge. I go with electric as I'm more comfortable running wire to the cab than messing around with capillary tubing. My personal view is this is also safer as a broken wire will stop the gauge working, whereas broken tubing will give you a leak and lost pressure. I think mechanical is supposed to be more accurate though, but whether this is true and if so by how much, I have no idea...
