    Congrats on the residency mate, i got mine a few months ago, great feeling to not have to worry about visa's anymore

    THe Govt. definately does'nt make it easy to live here if you're a normal hardworking person wanting to contribute to society and pay taxes

    We got the residency OK (My wife was a former resident so that bit was easy for us and we had it before we came over), but it's the citizenship I want, and that's another 18 months away minimum!

    Is that the normal time frame for everyone? I've been meaning to look into how long i have to wait before i can apply.

    For Citizenship? Yeah, 2 years in country (Within 5 years, and 1 year of past 2 years to be precise) as a resident before you can apply. This is assuming you are a resident already, as I think it's changing this year to 4 years in country for new residents...
