i have just brought some kc hilites back from the uk

woooooooooo hooooooooooooo been after a set of these for ages

only 130w but more than i will need i reckon especially with the roof lights off road and i'm hoping with a certain upgrade kit that i will get the best out of the lights anyway

sorry i know that doesn't help you much and i'm not sure how liked kc's are here but they are liked in the uk and expensive

I've stuck with Hella for quite a few years now. Good solid lights with one of the best mounting systems I've seen. They can be a bit tricky to set up and adjust, but once you've got them right and locked them up, they'll never move.

I've got Hella Predators (HID) on the Disco - a bit expensive but I had them given to me by one of our electrical suppliers. On the Prado I've got Hella Rally 4000's. Same mounting system and almost the same body as the Predators. I was running 130 watt globes in them and they worked well with that, but I've just laid my hands on a HID conversion kit and fitted that - they are now pretty much the same lights as the Predators.

Only issue with the Predators on the Disco is that when you dip from high beam, it's like somebody blew the candle out, as the Disco headlights are crap. I've just bought a HID hi/lo headlamp conversion kit that I will be fitting to the Disco - hopefully that will solve the problem.
    Cheers .........

Where did you get them from? I've got these shortlisted with Hella 4000's, Roolites and Lightforce, and no clue which I'd prefer as yet.

You need to go to Belgium for chocolate.

I have Hela 4000s and hey are great. Look around though cause they vary from $183 to $430 each depending on retailer. Find a retailer that deals directly with Hella and you should get them at the cheaper end of the scale. I got mine from a Truck part shop / workshop in Kalgoorlie and his rrp was $183 ea inc gst, The Blue Castle in Kal wanted $430 ea. So pays to ring or look around. Find a nearby truck shop as these guys can not afford to rip off truck drivers. Also a good set of mudflaps can usually be purchased cheaply from truck shops and are heaps better than LR ones and most after market, only thing is usually they will have the dealers name on them. Drilout the old brackets and use them, you will have to cut the flaps slightly to fit, but is worth it.

Are the 4000's H1 bulbs? I ask as I've got a H1 HID kit here for some cheap lights I've decided not to both using.

Yes they are standard spot light globes which is H1 from memory. I am thinking of upgrading the bulbs to Philips. Have done Drivesafes headlight / driving light upgrade and that has made a huge difference, now to try and lower light temperatures without losing lighting ability.
My Hellas came from Truck Line I think it was on Great Eastern Hwy, Kalgoorlie, not Truck Power like the mudflaps. BMKal nice little pick up being given a set of Predators, I must meet this rep.
