Are you sure it wasn't from a Series 2 - certainly no Series 3 I've seen has had one.
Presumably wired to the ignition so only works when it's on? The military ignition is really simple - off/on/start.
I just inherited a box of exmil landy bits, in it was a lovely hour meter from a series 3
How is it wired coz essentially its just a clock isnt it?![]()

No I had a series 2 and it didnt have one but I have seen an exarmy 3 which is a later model 3 with the crappy plastic in your face dash and inthe middle there are three gauge holes and one housed the hour meter.
I wonder which ones had them, then? My ex-army Series 3 has one hole, oil temp. I've only seen them in Series 2/2a's.

The wonders of landrovers but the reame boys are a law unto themselves, they do some off the cuff conversions, who knows, the Antichrist isnt being restored for originality she wont win any points for anything original, shes modded left right and centre, she is ex African army.
The FFR's (Fitted For Radio) were fitted with the hour meter as the spent alot of time with engine running whilst stationary (charging batteries for the radios). The hour meter would be used to schedule servicing periods.

Trebor110 beat me to it, the S3 FFR does have an engine hour meter. Landyfromanuthaland, if you look in the files section of AULRO you will find wiring diagrams for the series 3 FFR.
