sounds like you had a good weekend....were there any whiting on the bite....i'm guessing there would have been endless dart
Hi All,
Nothing ground breaking here really but a few little things that I learnt over the weekend.
Firstly, the tailor haven't started running on the Sunshine coast and when the westerlies blow the beaches are pretty quiet.
Secondly, just because you can doesn't mean you should, this is in reference to driving on the beach, going up on Sat night we had a bit of hard sand left against the surf and cruised up in high range, when we left 4 hours later just after high tide we were restricted to the very soft dry sand up against the dunes, so with the muddies at 20psi and the center diff locked in high range we set off for the return trip, I didn't really think it was too bad and we were doing it reasonably easy at about 40kph and 2500-2700rpm in drive with the auto, after about 10 or so km's of this the transmission light came onand as I took my foot off the loud pedal the car virtually stopped (nothing wrong with car) the sand was that soft we were leaving about a 10" deep tyre tracks behind us, luckilly the light went off as quick as it came on and I decided that low range would be a good idea
and we continued the next 5 or so km's without problem, so just remember that sometimes the car is working harder than it seems, but landies do excell in the sand
Next little gem is to do with cooking, we recently scored a Cobb at a great price and have been doing roasts at home in it experimenting with a few things before we use it out bush, roasts turn out brilliantly, and wine and beer in the moat section makes for a very tasty result, but dont use any honey based mixes in the moat unless you like a difficult cleaning job as it turns to a hard sticky molasses type messother than that it is one of the best little cooking devices I have purchased especially given the lack of effort needed and minimal amount of fuel needed to cook with.

soon SEQ,,soon.

Heeeelllppp.... can you teach me how to beach fish, Glen?
I did a lot of fishing as a lad but only from a boat. I've had a couple of goes on the beach and so far all I've succeeded in doing is drowning pipies
My position as the hunter of the family is in severe doubt![]()

I certainly can, but my results of late are nothing to write home about, that said we are looking at putting a lot more effort into it now with the camper we can base camp in comfort and range the beaches trying all the best looking gutters
The northern end of Bribie will be copping a hiding now as we went full hog with an annual permit (bit of a rip off) mainly as Teewah gets too busy for comfort on weekends, and we will also be trying points north for RDO long weekends (every 2nd week)
So your more than welcome to tag along some time, or should I organise an AULRO beach fishing day![]()
