Tare is the unladen weight of the vehicle with fluids but not driver. GVM is the gross laden weight of the vehicle, being the lesser of the manufacturers specified GVM or the legal limit in the jurisdiction.

Basically, your tare weight is your normal vehicle weight with all normal fluids carried eg. fuel, oils, coolant etc. with the vehicle in standard trim. Gross vehicle mass is the maximum permissible weight to be carried by the vehicle, including passengers, luggage, accessories etc. The difference between the two is your payload....Chris.
