Hey Andy, I know exactly where your coming from, I have AF, Atrial Fibulation, Im on medication called Sotolol and it really knocks the wind out of you.
Mine took off one night and got up to around to 200+ I think 208 was the highest on the read out and so they gave me Amioderone which isnt very nice stuff as it tries to stop your heart.
I am stable now and am heading for an operation in early september to zap a node in my atriam that is setting it all off.
There are some great sites on AF (if thats what it was) for if you get any repeat eppisodes, PM me if you want any more info.
There are some great treatments around these days but a lot of Cardiologists dont try the new stuff if you only have AF, the treat it as if it isnt important.
It isnt nessesarilly caused by your weight but more by stress which can be caused by weight and can also be hereditary or just out of the blue.
It is relatively common, my bro in law also has it but each person is different, some need shocking to revert and others need medications, and it is more common in older people which have been under stress through their lives and then start to relax.
Glad to hear your out of hossy and back in good spirits and Im hoping good health and it wouldnt hurt any of us bulkyer blokes to lose a few pounds anyway lol.
Good luck mate and give me a hoy if you want any of the info.
By the way, 1 asprin a day can help with blood flow for every one but talk to your DR before starting it as it may not work well with other medications.
With AF or SVT you are MORE likely to stroke, not have a heart attack as such but it doesnt mean it cant be started by a heart attack, this is why I take asprin when Im not on warphrin.
