I looked at OME and Pedders which all the mags say are the ducks guts in suspention and I wasnt impressed in a Disco with 2 YO OME 2" lift that was sagging in the rear big time and had horrible bump steer in corners so I went for the Ride pro which is all set up for the weight of my tent and the winch bar etc.

I had some EFS shocks which I cooked on a corregated road in Alice springs and nearly lost the disco because of it but then again, I was loaded up big time and hooting so I wasnt making it easy on them.

I wouldnt bother wiith OME, leave it for the caravaners and go get real suspention for your self.

It really depends on what you want out of your suspension. The LRA springs do some things well and other things poorly, as with the OME suspension etc.

What do you want out of the suspension?

I'm not certain that there is a best.

I do think that the LRA ones are better for comfort generally speaking due to their soft rates, though of course it depends on the shock and the shock valving that you mate it to. Soft springs are probably also good for slow offroading also such as the technical stuff. I tend to think the problem with LRA in the D2, is that they are designed well for the Defenders, RRC and D1's, but they don't match up quite right for the D2 as the D2 has slightly different springs lengths.

Setups such as OME I tend to think are a better touring setup as they are stiffer to better handle increased carrying loads, and offer more control and traction as a result. These types of setup are no doubt better for fast offroad also.

    All in my opinion though.

Ok in your opinion as I understand that all have different taste but picture this

D2 V8 tube bar and winch up front LPG Gas tank and fridge rear, 3-4 inch lift to tow a caravan of 1 tonne its also to be used both turing and heavy off road whats the best set up in your opinion and will be intrested in other peoples opinion then we can shed some light to this high jacked post

    hahahahahahaha

I've setup with 4" lift springs with 230lb/in front and 300-340lb/in rear. Does heavy offroading very well, does heavy touring extemely well with stiff shocks. I run this setup with ARB bar, winch, TD5, heavy rock sliders and rear bar, rear storage and fridge, duel batt in the rear, LR tanks, ARB 3/4 rack etc. Towing is no problem, I've towed up to about 2.5T with this setup and the chassis was really good. The engine needed about 1000Nm of extra torque though. I've also added Polyairs which are really nice to have when loaded to the roof and beyond, but not necessary.

heres a few questions for ya

    1. what make gear have you got as far as the shocks and springs

    2. what other equipment did you add like radias arms etc to your suspension

    3. did you need caster correction with the 4 inch lift

    3. Now I thought that poly airs where only good for a 2 inch lift

    4. whats the flex like off road have you got action shots

    5. the most painfull question what was the cost

I find my set up, 2" ridepro with big bore shocks also supplied by ridepro a bit stiff when not loaded but it handles really well.

Off road or loaded to the hilt it is comfy and flexes really well and doesnt roll as much as some.

    Thats just my opinion.

I also think that understanding spring rates and being able to specify your own hights and rates would be the best way to build your own set up as well as knowing what valving you want in your shocks but not many of us have that good of an understanding when it comes to this so the packages are then the best way to go.

Just remember the New laws that are either in or coming in in what ever state/terratory your in that from what I hear is going to be maxed out at 2" susp lift so maybe consider this when fitting it if your going to do a fair bit of traveling to get to the bush.
