Wow isnt there a mixed feeling about lifting a Discovery 2 I thought I would call Graeme Coopers Automotive reason being that according to LRA you lift D2 3.5 inch before issues I called Graeme Coopers about a month ago and was qouted around $1700 installed
I thought to my self OK this 4 inch business is getting messy
Well Graeme coopers advised today they only lift them 40mm
What yesterday isnt today it seems
The D2 seems to have more castor than the classic coil landys and I wouldn't alter the radius arms and there are no castor balls with it being a king pin setup. If I went down this route I would check the viabiility of altering the radius arm mounts to rotate the entire axle.
Engineering - yep
Greasable front shaft - yep, when the OE one wears out. If you keep breaking OE greasable ones then you need to have a big bertha fitted.
Rear shaft - I'd leave the rotoflex in if possible and unlike the classic coilers these don't undergo a significant angle change when lifting, though if you run big tyres and start breaking them, then change it all over to a uni-uni tailshaft.
You people really know a lot of stuff! I mean like a LOT of stuff......
My shockies are a nice yellow colour! Does that help?:D
I did say that this was out of my depth mmmmmmmm
with the Pro comps I know a few that have them on there rangie and swear by them at that Ill take the chance what worries me more are the other things as for the rear the air bag suspension should elemenate to much rebound I hope
Thats bump stop height, which equates to 1.5"/40mm, standard bump stop height for a D2 is 50mm/2"
In other words LRA will only go 1.5" over the standard bumpstop height of 2" to 3.5" which is the same as G Cooper and all Rover places.
Forget anything relating to other Rovers (ie) Disco1/RRC/Defender when lifting a D2.
It's all different:cool:
Baz.
mmmmmm this is not what i heard!!!!!
and you would of been getting more than shock and spring fitment!!!!!
and this is not in relation to this situation BUT yes the forum is where people help each other but on the other hand so what if a person was to make a little proffit????? would you walk up to someone that you spoke to once or twice on a forum and expect them to fit for free or cheap as a favour, if you had spoken to graeme cooper twice on here and took your car to him and asked him to fit your springs would you expect it at cost and him to not make any profit???? from what i have read NOT just on this post seems to me that you have heaps of help from people phil included............
phil is not out to make money off people, although i think he sould as is work is of very good quality and quite a few people on here would vouch for that.......and the stuff i have brought off him has been considerably cheaper then some others, i have at times had to hassel him to give me a REAL price as he was undercutting him self as he didn't want to charge me too much....
you say you except his fee and your not having a dig although you make him out to be some sort of opotunist and all he wants is to make money.......
very unfair of you i think consider the free info he has given you
