Personally if there was an option of driving the car into a place, forking out a sh1tload of dosh and picking the car up a few days later with a legal 4 inch lift and engineering certification I'd go this way as opposed to joining the "how I f****d up a perfectly good car club" I'd fork out the dosh.

Some quotes wise men have told me seem appropriate at this point in time

    • Forget what you think you know because you are wrong
    • Reliability = $
    • If your not sure, don't commit yourself to the task at hand
    • A penny saved today may cost you two pence tommorow
It's a public forum so sorry for the criptics but I'm sure you'll get the drift.

I have tried the procomps in my D2 with the Lovells 4" lift and so far the Bilsteins have been the better shocks, and probably would be better if valved properly.

The valving that is best is 400/100, looking around the US sites, that valving is best for touring, from memory Rovertym Engineering do this rating for the D2 lift kit that they do, although they use a 7100 series Bilstein.

The reason i have been playing with different shocks was, i was trying to see if i could improve on what slunnie has done.

The thing is even though we use the car in a similar way (ie) a compromise of touring with a load and weekend play, it's not the same, and slunnies setup may not work for me and visa versa, for one thing i don't have ACE or SLS.

My setup needs to work better as i don't have these things to help.

Also i agree with what Dullbird, Dobbo and Tombraider have said, he has helped me many times.

Im glad Phil looks after you that’s great

Now the only sin that I made was to choose different products and my choice was due to the cost that I was saving allowing me to spend it else where I didn’t deserve to be told that I was wasting his time

Either way it is my money and should I have chosen to go with a different product that’s my call, besides he wasn’t the only one giving me advice all he did was chose a make of spring and shock if he was not making a profit on the product he still was going to get money for labour and this cost would have increased as I wanted more gear installed the way I see it is that he shot him self in the foot and could of made more money of me which I didn’t mind paying

I wasn’t expecting anything for free dullbird so again please don’t insinuate

Despite Dullbird what you heard it’s irrelevant as it’s not your concern

So please lets drop the subject of Phil please

and you would of been getting more than shock and spring fitment!!!!!

and this is not in relation to this situation BUT yes the forum is where people help each other but on the other hand so what if a person was to make a little proffit????? would you walk up to someone that you spoke to once or twice on a forum and expect them to fit for free or cheap as a favour, if you had spoken to graeme cooper twice on here and took your car to him and asked him to fit your springs would you expect it at cost and him to not make any profit???? from what i have read NOT just on this post seems to me that you have heaps of help from people phil included............

phil is not out to make money off people, although i think he sould as is work is of very good quality and quite a few people on here would vouch for that.......and the stuff i have brought off him has been considerably cheaper then some others, i have at times had to hassel him to give me a REAL price as he was undercutting him self as he didn't want to charge me too much....

you say you except his fee and your not having a dig although you make him out to be some sort of opotunist and all he wants is to make money.......

very unfair of you i think consider the free info he has given you

others like Slunnie helped and what did he want in return good to also know that your help has a profit margin to it mmmmmmm

on second thoughts dont help and dont install thats just plain nasty I thought thats what forums where a place to help each other not for finacial gain
profit margin? i forgot i would have been doing all this with out rattleguns, car hoist AND a WORKSHOP!
yep i went right out of my way to rip you off..

Now as for Phil he was charging me $400 to basicly fit shocks and springs no real other mod other then that, I was going to do the other mods x member etc
this point i didnt make clear in my pm, sorry! that price was to fit and f%ck with the LOT! that was fit springs and shocks, remove your x member and mod it, and return it to you when it was done, do the watts link, make and fit longer brackets for the abs and the brake lines, IN DOING THIS IT WOULD HAVE SAVED YOU ALOT OF MONEY! fairly sure extended abs lines are quite expensive.
anyway, **** your winging about 50 bucks! this from the guy that wanted me to find out about OME LTR shocks for him??
lets go with OME shocks how ever the LTR ones I dont mind spending that bit extra if its worth it
    your words not mine.

what most annoyed me was not one pm from you to thank me for the info and time i spent nutting this out for you. you just take what was given and hand it over, easy to make someone look good when theyve done nothing.

    no cheers phil

I'm the first to admit I know FA of FA but surely if you change the spring and shocks for different makes therefore different setups then the rest of the setup will have to be done from scratch again.
