its only good if you live near eagle junction
any other station is a waste of time and money
Why on earth would anyone use this overpriced white elephant if going away?
The missus and I are going to the NRL Grand Final at the end of the month. Going for 4 days, flying out of Brisbane.
We usually leave the vehicle at an offsite Airport parking mob. They minibus you to and from the airport, your vehicle is securely parked for the four days. How much does this cost?
$45
If we get the airtrain from Yeronga (which means lugging a suitcase around and the station is 1k from home), it costs
$62WTF, the train into town costs about $5.
A taxi isn't that much
Not exactly useful or competitive is it?
No wonder nobody uses the freggin thing.
There's a joke as to why they call it the Airtrain.....
A Freight train carries freight
A coal train carries coal
the airtrain carries air, cause there's no passengers on it
its only good if you live near eagle junction
any other station is a waste of time and money
Sounds like a rerun of Sydney's railway to Mascot airport - so expensive that virtually nobody used it. The company operating it eventually went broke, not sure what the present situation is.

Might be for you Fenian, but ever wondered how we're supposed to get to the airport from the Gold Coast when there's a hold-up on the gateway - and the gateway always has some sort of drama going on to grind traffic to a halt....
I'd rather take that white elephant than miss a flight
No it's not cheap (unfortunately), but it gets there on time
yep just like the sydney to airport trip!
$20 to get to the airport from our place or $3.30 return to the city, thats twice the distance! WTF!!!!
and dont get me started on the taxi's, they just dont turn up.....
cheers phil
For any one living out side brisbane the air train is the only way to go..you consider the cost say from laidley, driving your car to the airport, tolls on the logan motorway, gateway bridge, airport parking........plus the traffic on the gateway motorway.......cost a fortune.....now the cost of the bus/train from laidley $9 to the city ,$ 20 odd dollars, from the city to the airport,...........no hassels with traffic,no tolls,no parking fee at the airport.....and they get you there on time.....I now what I would rather do.....not that I flight, that often, but when I do I catch the train......regards keith
How the hell do you come up with $62? A prepurchased ticket costs $11 one way from city to airport plus your suburban journey, probably another $2.70. From Norman Park to airport by taxi is over $40.

The melbourne train takes ages to get to the airport, oh wait - we don't have one.![]()
but we have the usual very exy taxis, and exy buses...
parking is interesting... you have tight ar$e valley going into the airport (people parking on the freeway waiting for their pick up passesgers to go to the pick up area) then you have the short term parking abour $5 per second - slight over exageration but you get the drift...
Oi! You've got your own airport(for domestic)
Yeah well point taken on outside of Brissy travellers
Ummm, Maths and QR fare prices
Return to Yeronga = $30.20
x 2 = $60.40
The $1.60 can be a tip
= $62
P.S. CBD is $13 one way, $24 return
We use the fly-drive package with Accor - especially for early morning flights.
We drive to the Mercure near the airport the night before (no traffic, no delays) and stay there. The price includes leaving our car at the hotel and shuttle bus to/from the airport.
Sure as eggs, a trip on the M4/M7, and especially the M5 in the early morning will have delays and cause stress as we wonder if we'll make the flight.
