    Moved over from UK and my kids have to use the Australian Oxford dictionary....they wouldn't even use the English Oxford dictionary back in blighty..

    I have had some major discussions in the office over proper pronunciation and speaking good England !

    yep, the edible thing is sc/on, but the town is definately pronounced Sc/own
    (I should know, I use low range in the Woolies carpark there, but get away with high range when parking outside Kerv cafe when going for my latte and scones. )

    Yep SKON is the cake and SKOWN is the town, the only ones who pronounce a skon as skown are those posh poofs from the latte drinking crowd
