Interesting Phoenix.
It mentions George Fowler, a nice bloke who I've met a few times and was involved in the original Perentie project under JRA. (also raced against his nephew)
George assembled a team, which was headed by a mate of mine (outside consultant) to electrically quieten the TD5/Storm engine for military use, as at that stage they were looking at re-powering the Perentie with that engine. The work resulted in a new loom and IIRC development cost around $100,000. Funny thing is Solihull wouldn't believe they did it as they'd spent something like 250,000 pounds in the UK and couldn't achieve the result ;)
Mark had to fly to the UK with the bits to show management their it worked. :D
It all came to a sudden stop when Ford/PAG took over.
