    Ex SAS TD5 Defender

Had a look at a rare bit of gear today.
    A TD5 Ex SAS Defender van,TD5 panelvan.
It was 1 of 2 purchased at auction by Westcoast Rover.
It had a fair amount of gear stripped out before auction, but was basically complete.
If any of you guys want a look call into 1704 Albany hwy Kenwick,I dont think its forsale.
Looks like it may have been helicoptered around by the lifting lugs on the front.
    Wasnt a Perentie,Defender.
For BLK Knightaus it still has the RED Army sticker on the LH side of the windscreen, any chemipen markings have vanished in the sun.
The owner said there wasnt much info, but both were ex-Kuwait.He belives they were built/ordered for a special task then decommisioned.
    ANY thoughts guys???

the red sticker plastic is polarising, if you look at it in the seat with the sticker and windshield facing the sun you'll be able to read it.

pics and the engine/chassis numbers will let me check it in MIMS or whats left of SDSS.

I have some educated guesses and reckon that they will be either 00's or 01 year models if Im close to right.

About two weeks back saw a defender painted pink desert cam near Cottesloe. Had all the gun racks etc removed it was the open no roof type with the round hole in the right side for the spare.

The same vehicle you see pics of the SAS driving in Afganistan.

Is this what you saw or something different.

It's not unusual to see the SAS boys out doing driver training in the 6x6.

I saw one drive past whilst down having fish and chips at the Freo fishing harbour.
