When I drove around Aust, I saw 4wds like yours everyday (And ALOT worse) .. if they had a small 4wd trailer, they would have been much safer at speeds, easier / lower for trees and more Airo,
Not having a go at your setup, but if I had to carry that much on the roof, it would have been a trailer ..
i have a big plastic box i use, they are great, definetely not water proof, but very very good for getting to the things you need regularly and quickly..
i have mine so it bolts on or off in under 10 minutes
something like this - just take the wheels off and bolt it on:

again - best to take the wheels off - otherwise they'll leave dents in your roof...;)
Just hitch the blue one up to the tow bar and away you go!
