Thread: Any plumbers here?

Im glad you asked... i may be looking for a plumber to finish my kitchen off.. current one seems favourite to let me down again...

just need gas connecting for the oven (via flexi hose) and regulator fitting etc.. and a bit of water stuff doing...

So is there any plumbers round wa northern burbs?

You cant use a flexi on a gas conection! unless its provided by the oven manufacturer.

Yes its approved for an AGA flexible hose 1.2m long. Says in those or similar words on the back of the oven cant quite remember now.. (westinghouse 900mm oven)

Did the oven come with the hose? or does it just say it?

no hose provided... but says it is approved for use with. i will only use a hose supplied by a gas fitter.. not got one myself.

There is no way you could plumb this up without one.. its a freestanding 900mm stove wedged into a 905mm gap.. takes some manouvering in!

I dont know about WA but if the hose is not provided then you DONT use one!!!!! BUt you can get them in fairly easily just using copper.

1st question re hot water service,

a. could be the pressure regulator that is the last valve before it goes back into the house, they get a bit clogged up with rust or that limey sort of stuff that is in hard water.

b. you shouldnt need to touch anything gas related to fix the problem.

c. temp mixer valve could be blocked or faulty or if there are anti hammer spools in the system, they can drop you pressure as well.

Q, is it on all the taps or just the shower for example as it could be a dodgey tap washer on a certain tap or blocked tap spool or broken shaft on a spool.

WA interpretations of AS5601 is...

A manufacturer’s installation instructions must specify the use of a flexible hose assembly for this type of
connection. If the instructions do not specify a means of connection, the appliance must be connected with
copper tube and the appropriate fittings.
The only exception is for freestanding upright stoves that have a connection point at the rear of the
appliance and do not have specific instructions or labelling prohibiting the use of flexible hoses. Clause
5.12.1.9 of AS 5601 2004 states that a freestanding cooking appliance having an under cooker connection
point shall not be connected to that point using a hose assembly.
If the gas fitter or owner wants to use a hose assembly on a stove with an under cooker connection point,
the gas fitter must extend a rigid [copper] pipe from the connection point under the cooker and up the back
of the stove, terminating downwards. The gas connection point shall also terminate downwards. The hose
assembly is then connected to these points hanging in a U-shape. Refer to Clause 5.12.1.8 of AS
still doesnt clear it up for me... but seems to exclude ovens from being prohibited. as mine is a rear and just below top connection, not under oven connection

thoughts... and i may start another thread as i have truley hijacked hangovers thread now... sorry! i was just looking for a plumbers details... honest...
