That's not just because it is only 70km from home, nor because the road in is just difficult enough to keep out some of the riff raff, but because you can camp there at the same time as a dozen other groups and not be aware of their presence.
The valley was cleared in about the middle of the 19th century, so now there is a 4km long section of the river with a couple of dozen places you can camp right on the Deua River without seeing anyone who might be camping a couple of hundred metres up or down the river. If you don't want to camp right beside the river there is space for another several dozen groups.
The Kimberleys is a magic part of the world.
Spring Creek on the Bullita Stock route in Gregory NP has the best private, natural swimming hole I have ever seem.
Come to think of it, there are a lot of magic spots in Australia.
