for one reason or another that in itself appears to be enough to let you strike up friendships a lot easier...

closest I can come to for an explination is to point you to Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy (book form) and the entry on the importance of towels and here I quote Douglas Adams

The landrover is the towel of the automotive world.

    Hi Joel
well the LR forum probably started in 1948 but it was not computerised then. ( first Landrover production 1948) progressed to Landy clubs for comradeship and passing on fixes and info and good social events and became computerised with their development and establishment of on line forums. Because of such a broad knowledge base from people that have owned , spannered, designed and rebuilt Landys since their inception, and honestly used and driven them in War and every range of other use, we respect each members knowledge and learn from their advice which is offered and added to or corrected by others.

Like all posts, this is only my view - Presided over a LR club late 60s, owned LRs ever since, also many Japs, probably driven 4WDs over a 1 000 000 ks but still learning something new every day!
You probably have never seen the stickers that were about in the sixties which I must try to find -- Land Rovers are Everywhere.

The key is owning a Landy can reprogram your brain!!
If you have owned a Landy for any length of time you have reached a level of maturity and understanding that you have an unspoken bond with other owners and nothing really to prove.
If brain is not yet reprogramed, -- just stay on the forum for a while!!!
Im working on it and fighting grey hairs i can see myself in 50 yrs leaning against my landy looking up at my greatgrandson flying around in his hoverlandy, listen young fella get back down to eath

Mate when you need spelling and gramma go see ron...

When you need spanners turning and rovers fixing you come see me...

I dont so much as speak english as I grab it grind it and bend it to my will then spit it back out like bad coffee..

and incase that wasnt a shot at my crappy spelling thats an actual word for word hand typed quote from my original HHGTTG book, A trilogy in 5 parts, (the hitchikers guide to the galaxy, the resteraunt at the end of the universe, life the universe and everything, so long and thanks for all the fish and mostly harmless) if you havent read it and you liked that little snippit go grab a copy of it you'll never ever look at anything or quote the same ever again.. I try to get at least 1 HHGTTG quote in every week or so.... that was this weeks.

    Oh the memories,,,

When every month, the Vic boys would have a day or weekend trip/event away ..

The annual get-together at Bindaree for Queens b/day
    weekend.

There is still a great camaraderie among most of us and would do just about anything to help each other out.

I agree with Ray, the best site around..
