Not mentioned is the LR 110 County. You won't get a diesel for that money but the 3.5 litre V8 is a great driver. It's much smoother than the famous and much respected Isuzu 4BD1.

The 4BD1 is in a class by itself. It's agricultural but it will last for ever.

The County is a legal 9-seater albeit 4 of the seats are inward facing at the rear.

    The 110 is a great off-roader.

This has to be a wind up.
Honesty on a Rover Forum about different makes?
The cars he is considering are TOTALLY different.
Has he ever driven a Series111 or Bundera diesel?? I hope there are no hills where he plans to go camping.
The only commonality is that he has 4K.
I think the advice to keep his Jeep or buy a Disco 1 is the sound solution. A four speed Rangie is at least 23 years old. At least a Disco 1 might only be 15 years Old. LOL
And the Jeep, unreliable as they seem, will probably be the most relaible by far of this whole bunch , simply because it is a heap younger. But you know if you look on US ebay you see some really high mileage Jeeps200-300 K MILES. They just seem to keep going.
    KEEP YOUR JEEP.

    more info

actually I haven't driven any of the above, except on several occasions my friends Series III. I'm certainly not rich. I bought the jeep with the intention of making a good off road/camping/touring sort of vehichle. I'm just not sold on the Unibody for real off road work. I'm a transplant and originally from the US. Jeeps there are good solid off road vehicles and the parts are cheap as chips. I was stunned to find out how much things here are for the jeep. So with the unibody concerning me and big $$ to lift plus every place I go being told a nissan or toyota would be cheaper and more suitable off road I was thinking of getting something different. I'm not an expert and only posted several models that the trading post has in my general area and I've looked at. My friend is willing to sell me his series III because he is moving. At anyrate after reading posts on here for several weeks I've come to the conclusion that I can get honest answers from you folks so that is what I'm looking for. I would really like something that can carry 6 people,,, that would be great. I'm a little leary on the rangie because she is at a car yard and I've been totally ripped off with the jeep by a car yard.. I've sunk heaps in her already without doing any mods for offroad. but for the right price who knows. Again thanks for all your help so far,,, I want a capable 4WD that can take my family camping in the end. Here is a picture of the inside of the six seat rr.

Looking at the fabric perhaps someone has modded this? (I don't know the rangie line up so it could be factory)

    That's a Land Cruiser seat!

Without an engineer's certificate, it would be illegal.

At least the seat would be reliable if uncomfortable.LOL

There are places to get Jeep parts cheap. Eg American Off Road. Or small parts via good ole USPS.
Look either keep the Jeep or get the newest Disco V8 you can afford.
A 23 year old Range Rover is not trouble free. The wiring will make you weep. At least Disco wiring had to be upgraded when rover entered the USA market.
AND that one has obviously been diddled with by a moron.

For some reason when they started making the rhd jeep in austria i think, the reliability went out the window. Cant compare the us and aussie versions, the aussie version is a pile of crap but since you already own it, it may be better the devil you know although personally i would go for the disco - heaps more comfort than a 4k jeep, just go for as late a model as possible.
