    Talking advice on strzelecke trck

    Hi guys,
My mate and IOutback trip 8.06 056.jpg(Mates is the blue 1,I have the green 1) are thinking of doing the strzelecke track mch/april possibly may next yr..
Would like to know if its possible to tow a van/boat thru the track.
Will only be going in 1 vehicle- is it advisable to take 2 cars

    Will be doing a round trip--syd-brkn hill-strzelecke trk-ocean road(vic)-syd:B:

Any other advise more than welcome guys & girls

Oh; this is only supposed to take 2 weeks as well(I'm thinking more like 3 would be better-so we dont rush it) :

    cheers

Mate, you'll do the Strzelecki easy. It's all very well maintained due to the Santos facility. We did Lyndhurst to Tibooburra in a day. The road from Merty Merty to Tibooburra is worth a bit of care though, and wash off speed. It's not a difficult drive, but its like a roller coaster ride while driving on marbles.

BTW, the Montecollina bore near the southern end of the Strz looks like an excellent place to camp!

I did the strzelecki a couple of years ago

I'm guessing you will be going from innamincka to lyndhurst

Camerons corner is always good to drop into

The track it self is a hi-way except for the first and last bits, plenty of gibber rock and corrugations, the middle section is all 100km/h stuff on smooth claytop

Make sure your trailer springs and bearings are in good nick

Camping on the cooper river is a nice spot, we asked the locals where to camp and they pointed a big area just on the edge of town, cheap enough a $5/night or might have been per person.....however on our way to dig tree we discovered a free campsite on the river if you had a desert parks pass, bloody local, either way nice place

As has been said, the Track is easy. Camping is available all up and down Cooper Ck. It really depends on how many days you wish to stay in the area, whether it is worth getting a Desert Parks Pass. They cost I think $95 and then camping is free. The Town Common is $5 which is fine for a night or two.

Yes. Part of the track was diverted to service Moonba (Santos oil/gas field).

The old section that was bypassed, (about 120 km) more or less follows Strzelecki Creek, between Innamincka and Merty Merty. It is not looked after like the rest, but is more interesting.

got back on thursday evening old strez track is quite good at the moment a bit sandy in some stretches so drop your speed in the corners and watch out for the younger cattle over crests they seem to like sitting on the track take cash with you as when the phones went down at innamincka there where quite a few people stuck there ,no eftpos and they couldnt get fuel for four or five days

If he's doing the Strz from Broken Hill I don't think he'll see any of the new/old Strz sections around the oil fields as they're all north of Merty Merty, where he would turn south for Victoria.... unless travelling for the journey.
